Mike Carnie
April 2007
Mike Carnie is now back on the Jazz scene after my 14months layoff with depression.
At an early age Mike was professional with THE NORTH STARS who played the cabaret circuits along with a season in Pantomime at the Demontford Hall and 3 Summer seasons in review shows. They toured Turkey and Greece performing at the American base camps. Philips record company signed up the the band and they released 2 records on the FONTANA label.
Later
Mike became well known on the Jazz circuit and played with many bands including
The Tony Smith Jazzmen, The Saints, Joe Silmon Dixielanders, Alan Pendlebury
band, The Smoky City, Keith & Marcia Pendlebury, The Red River and many
more.
In 1994 he went over to New Orleans with the Bricktops Red Onion Jazzband &
played at Fritzels bar on Bourbon Street, and also appeared in a show in Biloxy
where he met and backed Harry Connick Senior.
Special nights for Mike to remember were playing with Humphrey Lyttelton at Jazz North West and the Bruce Turner Jump Band down at the M.S.G in Manchester in the early 60's
In 1962 he played at the Cavern Club in Liverpool along side the then unknown BEATLES.
Mike has recently formed his own band THE JAZZ ALL STARS and are currently playing Jazz, Swing and Blues around the North West. If you mention EDDIE CONDON to Mike he will talk to you for hours & OH !!!!!!! Don't forget to ask him about GEORGE WETTLING.
