MART RODGER MANCHESTER JAZZ
One of Carol Levis’ Discoveries some 50 years ago, Mart Rodger’s band has been playing some of the finest traditional and Dixieland jazz to be heard throughout that time. Mart considers his present band to be his best yet and although most members cut their teeth during the British trad boom, they are all still playing with the same enthusiasm and vitality today. This band have wooed audiences all over the world and we are delighted to have the opportunity to welcome them back to The Savoy.
THE HOTCHA SWING QUARTET
This glittering new band draws inspiration from the 1930’s music of Django Reinhardt and The Quintet of the Hot Club of France. Whilst remaining true to the spirit of spontaneity and passion of this wonderful music, The Hotcha Swing Quartet have enlarged their repertoire to create their own musical niches. With two guitars, a fiddle and an acoustic bass, these are virtuoso performers prepare to be amazed.
THE BLUE MAGNOLIA JASS ORCHESTRA
Formed back in 1968, the Blue Mags have built up an ever increasing and enthusiastic following all across the UK and Europe from both Jazz and non-Jazz audiences alike. Believing that their jazz should be both entertaining and enjoyable to all age groups, the band’s uninhibited approach, their superb jazz and their Scouse wit and humour, has become their trademark. No surprise then that, with 2008 being their 40th anniversary, the band consider this to be the reason Liverpool was chosen to be European City of Culture in 2008
